Dear All,
I want your attention on an important issue and that is where to hide the mobile phones during exams?
Examiners in our centre do not allow to place the mobile phones inside the Exam Hall collectively on one table even in off mode.
VU's basic mission was to help working people seek higher education. Now, working people are supposed to come to the exam centre mostly from office and not home. Where are they supposed to leave their phones? In the car, if one has, or give it to a stranger on the road to stand for them during exam hours? The clerical office on their own responsibility? (as the clerks say) on the window panes?
Can we join voice for it?

Permalink Reply by raheel abbasi on February 14, 2012 at 12:22am Thanks you have raised right issue.. I had the incident yesterday and at same very place i.e Satellite Town campus Rawalpindi. I had a paper yesterday at 0430pm. Superintendent announced that students to submit their USB,storage device and mobile phones at basement.I went to reception but no body out of campus showed willingness to keep the mobile..Resultantly i had to leave mobile in window pane outside the examination hall with certain other mobiles, but i came outside after the paper it was not there.I asked from staff, peon etc but no body had idea.
I have talked to campus manager about this issue. He said that previously there used to be a table lying inside the exam hall , where students used to place their mobile, now the superintendent of the exam is not interested to do that. When i told him that other centers are keeping the mobile and issuing the tokens. He said i do not have sufficient staff to do that..
The point of concern is that whether this was done by some student or somebody out of campus staff , it is not the gentleman act. We students are seeking education and campus are providing education. It was highly characterless act performed by anyone. I placed there while observing the honour code. but i think every body does not think like that..
Any how i have formally lodged complaint to campus manager and also informed the University head office about this incident. Lets see what is their response

In other campuses the receptionists issue tokens and keep mobiles, no extra staff is needed, it only depends on willingness of campus management
Permalink Reply by MOHSIN RAZA on February 14, 2012 at 10:48am I think there is noo need for any separate staff for handling this issue,
in our campus, PFSD01 Satyana Raod campus, we submit our mobile phones and other thins like usb in principal office where a person is appoint to do this , he keep mobile and issue a token. Same with female students who have hand bags, they keep their hand bags in Reception office and get back when they come back.
Other study material , books, notes are lying in a rack , almirah outside exams hall where a peon is appointed for taking care of these. but it is also a responsibility of students that they get only there own things when they come back because some time books stolen from rack , almirah.
Permalink Reply by raheel abbasi on February 15, 2012 at 6:56am Now VU Campus Rwp has placed notice in exam hall," All belongings to be placed at reception". I dont know whether they have designated some one or not. Lekin is incident ke bad , me ne un ka ihsan nahe liya

Permalink Reply by Khurram Shahzad on February 17, 2012 at 11:51am Thanks GOD they are now keeping the mobiles at reception along with CNIC original or copy. It helps a lot and makes attempting the exam with full concentration easier. Thanks to Campus management. The policy should continue consistently.
