Suppose for a certain project Preliminary design generated 12 defects which were passed on to detailed design. Now at detailed design phase, 6 defects were passed on to the next stage and 6 were amplified at a ratio of 1:1.5. In addition, there were 20 new defects introduced at this (detailed design) stage. Calculate how many defects were passed to next stage by detailed design stage?

Suppose zero percent (0%) defect removal efficiency at each stage.

We don't need to calculate stages after detailed design stage...../

1st Answer = 35
=> 6 + (6*1.5) + 20
2nd Answer = 92.3

1st Answer is 19

Preliminary Design 0+0+12=12 -: 0%=12
Detailed Design 6+6*1.5+20=35 -:0%=35
Code/Unit Test 12+23*3+20=101 -:80%=81
Integration Test 81+0+0=81 -:50%=41
Validation Test 41+0+0=41 -:50%=21
System Test 21+0+0=21 -:50%=11
11 Passed

For a certain application

MTTF = 60
MTTR = 5

Calculate the “availability” of the application.
Solution
Availability=(MTTF/MTBF)*100
MTBF=MTTF+MTTR
60+5=65
(60/65)*100
92.30
