Dear students,

On behalf of “Virtual University of Pakistan” you all are warmly welcome in the course of “Conflict Management (HRM624)”. We hope that you would enjoy learning new concepts of conflict management and find it useful for implementing in your practical life. Our most strenuous challenges as a globe require that we must be able to show skillfulness in engaging with each other, recognizing how we can creatively approach our interdependent goals to create new opportunities for a better future. I hope that through your participation in this conflict management course, you will find this voice within yourself.

“You can’t change what’s going on around you until you start changing what’s going on within you”.

This course will enhance your knowledge about different types of conflicts and its multiple dynamics. You will also learn that conflict is a part of our daily life and there are different useful strategies for dealing with conflict. In the modern day world, conflict is a widespread phenomenon not only in the organizations but in the society as well. Effective management of different types of conflicts can be a real source of progress in our family and work life.

This subject demands your full attention in each lecture. We recommend you to attentively watch to all video lectures on regular basis, read recommended books & handouts, consult the reference books/websites and go through newspaper regularly then you cannot only fulfill the objectives of this course but also you can generate good results. We are always here to help you in this regard.

In this course your knowledge will be tested through quizzes, graded discussion boards (GDB), assignments, mid-term and final-term examinations. All the testing instruments will test your knowledge and provide you the opportunity to face the challenges in the practical life as well. You can only benefit from the test instruments if you attempt them by using your own skills.
