Assignment Objective:

 

Upon completion of this assignment, students will be able to understand about the concept of Marriage in different cultures and Freud’s Model of Personality Development.   

 

Background:

 

Culture is the way of life that people adopts or we can say that it is their pattern of behavior. Culture includes: Intangible (non-material) items like values, beliefs, norms, language, and ideas (ideologies: perception of reality) that govern the way of life in  addition to the Tangible (material) items that depicts our way of life in terms of cloths, The way we play our roles.

Identify the differences relating to Marriage in Pakistani culture as compared to the European Culture in terms of Tangible and Intangible elements? Use the table given below to complete the task:

Background:

 

Socialization is a complex, lifelong process. Freud believed that biology plays a major part in human development, though not in terms of human instincts. He theorized that humans have two basic needs that are there at birth. First is the need for bonding, which Freud called the “life instinct”. Second, we have an aggressive drive he called the “death instinct”. Freud joined basic needs with the influence of society to form a model of personality with three parts: id, ego and superego.

 

TASK 2: 

 

What do you understand by Id, Ego and Superego as described by Sigmund Freud? Explain with the help of examples from your life. Also evaluate Freud’s Model of Personality in terms of Nature-Nurture debate.

 

Marking Scheme: 

Explanation of Id, Ego and Superego with the help of examples: 2*3 = 6 Marks

Evaluation of Freud’s Model of Personality: 6 Marks

(6+6 = 12 Marks)
