Question 1: (5 Marks)
When a signal travels from source to destination, it may b affected by different external factors that cause the loss of energy, due to which the signal may differs from its actual shape. In the given table you are required to identify the type of noise with respect to noise source.

Noise Source                                                             Noise Type

Telephone Wire
Water Pump
Extra Signal generated by Motion of Electron

Question 2: (5 Marks)
Suppose a signal is generated from a source with initial power of 1000W but due to attenuation it is received at destination (80 Km away from source) with power of 100W. Find the total power loss in decibels by writing formula with all calculation steps.

Question 3: (5 Marks)
Suppose you need to have simultaneous transmission of signals through a single medium, then which technique will be used to fulfill this requirement? Also describe, how does that technique work at sender and receiver end?

NOTE: Do not put any query on MDB about this assignment, if you have any query then email at

Deadline: Your assignment must be uploaded/submitted on or before 14th July 2014.

Q 3 ka koi idea plz ... i can't understand da question

lecture 29 ko read kary aap

or q3 main aap ny multiplexer k bary main batana hai

Qno 3:

i think multiplexing

multiplexing (sometimes contracted to muxing) is a method by which multiple analog message signals or digital data streams are combined into one signal over a shared medium. The aim is to share an expensive resource

The multiplexed signal is transmitted over a communication channel, which may be a physical transmission medium (e.g. a cable). The multiplexing divides the capacity of the high-level communication channel into several low-level logical channels, one for each message signal or data stream to be transferred

please sir 2nd question ka koi solution idea bhi bta dn. mjhy to is ki koi smajh ni aa ri

i think these formulas are very useful for the solution of q no 2

  •  dB = 10 log10 (P2/P1)

            Pand Pare signal powers

  Negative dB means attenuation

  Positive dB means amplification

  • L(dB)=P power source(dBm)-P power receive(dBm)

here L is light power lose

Q3 my ans is correct ?

For  simultaneous transmission of signals through a single medium, we need to multiplex the signals for that we can use sdh, sonnet ,wdm, cdm or dwdm technology.  The concept of these technology is same but  the difference is in bandwidth and channels to transmit. Using of these technology we need to have multiplexer  at the sender side and to have demultiplexer  at receiver side, may be we need repeater, or amplifier for boosting singnal in case of long distance

yr -2 kasy aya -1 ata ha ha?????

yr log wd basa 10 simple log hota ha ap ka ans wrong ha

q students ko confuse kr rhi ho  SeHar zAin

example check kr lo ap

i knw its a simple log thats exact formula written in handouts so i wrote this ᏗᎩᏋᏕᏂᏗ and i posted here so that if any mistake then it can be rectified by discussion and sorry by mistake i took log as -2 its -1 ok

dear log10(0.1) = -1  and log10(0.01) = -2
