Fitrana fixed at Rs 80 per person: Mufti Muneeb
The minimum amount of Sadqa-e-Fitr or Fitrana to be paid before Eid-ul-Fitr has been fixed at Rs 80 this year, President,Tanzeemul Madaris Ahl-e-Sunnat Pakistan and Chairman, Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee Mufti Muneeb ur Rehman said on Sunday.
According to the market price of 2.25 kilograms flour, the amount for Fitrana this year has been calculated at Rs 80, he told Associated Press of Pakistan on telephone from Karachi. He said those who wanted to pay Fitrana equal to the price of barley, Khajoor (dates) and Kishmish should pay Rs 200, Rs 1,280 and Rs. 1,600 respectively.
Mufti Muneeb also advised the people to pay the amount to the poor before Eid-ul-Fitr so that they could also celebrate the festival. The most deserving people for Sadqa-e-Fitr are close relatives followed by neighbours and the poor.
It is incumbent on every Muslim who possesses enough basic foodstuffs to feed himself and his family for the duration of one day and one night. A Muslim must pay Sadqa-e-Fitr on behalf of himself, his wife, children and dependents.

For During Ramadan, it is obligatory for the Muslims to given to the needy before Eid-ul Fitr. The main purpose of the Zakat al-fitr, is to enable the poor people with money, so that they can fulfill their needs on the Eid day. Since Eid is a celebration and a gift from Allah to all Muslims, as the holy and blessed month of Ramadan comes to its end. Islam preaches brotherhood, and guides its followers to never forget their fellow brothers and sisters in times of need and sorrow, as well as happiness and celebration. Eid-ul-Fitr marks the first Eid out of two, in the Islamic calendar, and people with comfortable means are encourage to help those who are not, and encourage them to celebrate and rejoice on the happy occasion.Each country or state, decides upon the per head price of Fitrana each year. Basically Fitrana is calculated as the market price for 2.25 kilograms flour. This year in Pakistan, Fitrana is fixed at Rs.80 per head. Each household will than give out Zakat al-fitr before Eid, according to the number of family members in the household. Muslims observe this act around the world each year during Ramadan. The category of people or situations, where Fitrana is acceptable is as follows;
