PHY301 Circuit Theory Assignment No. 1 Solution and Discussion Spring 2015 Due Date: May 14, 2015

Assignment 1(Spring 2015)

Due Date: May 14, 2015

DON’T MISS THESE Important instructions:

  • To solve this assignment, you should have good command over first 6 lectures.
  • Upload assignments properly through LMS, (No Assignment will be accepted through email).
  •  Write your ID on the top of your solution file.
  • All students are directed to use the font and style of text as is used in this document.
  • Don’t use colorful back grounds in your solution files.
  • Use Math Type or Equation Editor etc for mathematical symbols.
  • This is not a group assignment, it is an individual assignment so be careful and avoid copying others’ work. If some assignment is found to be copy of some other, both will be awarded zero marks. It also suggests you to keep your assignment safe from others. No excuse will be accepted by anyone if found to be copying or letting others copy.
  • Don’t wait for the last date to submit your assignment.
  • You can draw circuit diagrams in “Paint” or in “Corel Draw” or in circuit maker. The simple and easy way is to copy the given image in Paint and do the required changes in it.

Find the total resistance RT in the following circuits. Draw the circuit diagram of each step otherwise you will lose your marks. Write each step of the calculation to get maximum marks and also mention the units of each derived value

Q.2. For the given circuit

1)      Find the total resistance for the circuit in the figure below

2)      Calculate the current through each resistance.

3)      Calculate the power dissipated by each resistance.

Q.3. Give the brief answers

a)      Tell some materials in your home through which electricity can pass and through whichcannot pass.

b)      Two resistances of 5Ω and 10Ω are connected in series of a 12V battery. What will be current flowing through each resistance?

c)      In the given figure, do you think bulbs are in parallel or in series? How current and voltage will divide in bulbs.

yes bro! u r right

M.Tariq bhai bhi aj chup hai

Q1: is it correct frends ?????

hence it is a series-parallel circuits

so to calculate its total rasistans RT first add parallel circuits as

0.125+0.125+0.16+0.16+0.067 = 0.637

1/0.637= 1.569Ω

now add all serial circuits

7Ω+2Ω= 9Ω

so, TR= 1.569Ω+9Ω=10.569Ω

Guysss yeh dekhoo sb may be beneficial hu.

i think asy he solve karna hai haris..... keep it up :)

itx incorrect

nd 2nd thing itx not urx ..

3rd thing ... agr isky agy chl gya ho to koi mje b bta de

Serene can you please upload the Answer of the last option of 3rd Question that is

Do you think bulbs are parallel or in series ?how crunt & voltage divide in bulbs ????

muja ya theak nai lag rha answer ap ka ap na aik he line ma calculation ki ha jab k assignment ma likha ha reach step krna ha.... main na b solve kia ha mera 17.5 ans aa rha ha

dear Ahtesham! main n to just  + M.Tariq Malik k batae method ko folw kia hai muje nhi malom k ye thek hai ya galat

Q2 (b)

calculate the current through each resistance

the same 20A current is flowing 10Ω and at point A divided in to two parts 2Ωis in series with 3Ω and parallel with 5Ω so ,

the current flowing through 5Ω resistor is

I= 10A

ap na knsa formula use kia ha plz tell kyun k ap ki calculation ki samj nai aa rhe

see the handouts pg no 43 ........

formula is l1=Is*r2/(r1+r2)
