Dear Students,
The activity of Graded Discussion Board (GDB) will be conducted on February 15, 2016 and will be closed on February 16, 2016. The GDB topic will be active for 48 hours only hence students are advised to read all the material regarding combinational and sequential circuits and post their comments as soon as GDB topic is enabled.
Combinational and Sequential logic are two different approaches for implementing logic circuits. Combinational circuits are designed using logic gates only while sequential circuits also use components like logic gates, latches, flip flops and counters. Assume you are working as an Electronics engineer in SONY electronics. You are required to design a remote control that can be used to operate a device from a distance. While designing the circuit you are required to consider the following parameters

· Design simplicity

· Cost

· Power dissipation

In your opinion which circuit between combinational and sequential is best suitable to design this circuit? Support your answer with valid arguments.

combinational circuit is more suitable then sequential circuit in this given scenario.

Combinational Logic Circuits — the output(s) depend only on the input(s) at any speciﬁc time and not on any previous input(s)
Sequential Logic Circuits — the output(s) depend both on previous and current input(s).

A combinational circuit can be defined as a circuit whose output is dependent only on the inputs at the same instant of time where as a sequential circuit can be defined as a circuit whose output depends not only on the present inputs but also on the past history of inputs
