Question – 1

 

Suppose that a certain FDD cellular network has a total assigned bandwidth of 50 MHz. The network uses 20 KHz channels to provide full duplex communication. Keeping into view these specifications, answer the following questions.

 

  1. What will be the channel bandwidth required for each full duplex communication?
  2. What will be the maximum number of channels which can be supported for the bandwidth assigned to the network?
  3. What will be the number of channels required per cell in a cluster having the following values, i=2 and j=2?

 

 

Question – 2

 

Consider a scenario where Raza, a subscriber of cellular network wants to talk to his friend, Hassan from his cell phone. Raza lives in Lahore whereas Hassan is a subscriber of a PSTN (landline) network living in Islamabad. Explain the entire process of call setup between Raza’s mobile phone and Hassan’s landline.
