Question 1:                                                                                                                                                [Marks 10]

 

Assume a FDD cellular network company is offering total assigned bandwidth of 60 MHz. The network utilizes 30 KHz channels to provide full duplex communication. Considering this scenario,  you are required to do the following calculations with all necessary steps:

 

·         Calculate the channel bandwidth required for each full duplex communication.

Ans :

   Total Bandwidth =60 MHz

     Channel width =2*30khz = 60KHz/duplex channel

 

 

·         What will be the maximum number of channels that can be supported for the bandwidth assigned to the network?

·         Maximum channels available= Total bandwidth/channel Bandwidth for full duplex

Ans: total number of channel = 60000/60= 1000

 

·         What will be the number of channels required per cell in a cluster having the following values, i=2 and j=1?

ans:

 size of cluster = i2+i*j+j

= (2)2+(2)*(1)+(1)2

=4+2+1

=7

Channel per cell= 1000/7

=142.857

Suppose there is another cellular network that have 600 duplex channels in total with cell cluster size of 4. What will be number of channels that can be supported per cell? Also calculate the system capacity if the cluster size is repeated by 2 times.

 

Ans: Total duplex channel= 600

Cell cluster size=4

number of channel per cell=?

N=T/k

=600/4

=150 Channel per cell

system capacity= M*T   (cluster size repeated 2time)

= 2*600
