CS401 – Computer Architecture & Assembly Language Programing

Graded Discussion Board (GDB)

With the latest technological advancement, programming has become abstract. Days are gone when programming was used to be at hardware level. Now Programming is not concerned with hardware any more. This is quite a revolution and people are all about modern languages. New market trends are now software oriented. But, Assembly Language is still being taught in Universities as one of the core courses. When current programming needs are not hardware related anymore, teaching Assembly language feels impractical.

Being the student of Computer Architecture and Assembly language, do you think that this language should be obsolete or not? Justify your choice with valid arguments.

AssalamuALAIKUM,

yea i need help please ..

i think this language should not be obsolete ...

...hlp

Cause this is the symbolic programming of assembly language is easier to understand and saves a lot of time and effort of the programmer. It is easier to correct errors and modify program instructions. Assembly language has the same efficiency of execution as the machine level language ...

so what is your opinion ...?

The benefits that existed when Assembler was born still exist today, But there are

some new advantages that could be used to encourage even my generation:

Today assembly language is still used for nonstop hardware manipulation, access

to focused processor commands. Anything that is high-volume implementation is

written in Assembler, Some shops may have a lot of COBOL programs, but these

source code lines are instructions written, not instructions executed . SMF records

can prove this, Run an SMF record filter and see what is consuming CPU time!

“Assembly language continues to hold a center position in the programming world

because of its similar formation to machine language and its close links to

underlying computer-processor architecture and design. These features allow for

high processing speed, low memory stress and the capacity to act directly on the

system’s hardware.”

So, According to the above state, I would like to say that, “ Assembly language

use is not dead and will be not.”

Assembly language is a language that is close to the machine language. With assembly language, a programmer works only with operations that are implemented directly on the physical CPU.
In the early days of computing, assembly language was all the there was. In those days the programming was used to be at hardware level. Now programming is not concerned with hardware any more.Thats why many high level languages are now came into the market. But assembly language is still very usefull for the programmers when speed is necessary or when they need to carry out an operation that is not possible in high level language.
Assembly language are close to a one to one correspondence between symbolic instructions and executable machine codes. Assembly languages also include directives to the assembler, directives to the linker, directives for organizing data space and macros.
Assembly language is much harder ot program than high level languages. The programmers must pay attention to far more detail and must have an intimate knowledge of the processor in use.But high quality hand crafted assembly language programs can run much faster and use much less memory and other resource than a similar program written in high level language.Assembly language programming also gives direct acces to key machine features essential for implementing certain kinds of low level routines, such as an operating system kernal or microkernal, device drivers, and machine control.
So according to the above statements, I would like to say that, “Assembly language is still absolute and it will be use as long as programming is being use”.

plz check this

yeah it is good.
