CS401 GDB Solution Idea:

  • In my point of view having several cores can give higher performance than increasing the speed of a single processor. It is possible to increase the performance of a processor without increasing the clock frequency, by simply adding more cores.
  • Dual-core processors usually have more advantages than disadvantages. Increasing the number of cores in your CPU is a cost-effective way of increasing performance. Dual-core processors tend to have better performance than singlecore processors. Dual-core processors can divide information for processing by multiple units.
  • Faster processors generate more heat and require more aggressive cooling measures than slower processors do. A high clock speed means faster processor.
  • For instance, a quad-core processor may support a clock speed of 3.0GHz, while a dual-core processor may hold a clock speed of 3.5 GHz for every processor. This means that a dual-core processor can run 14% faster.
  • The good processing speed of the multicore processors is due to the multiple cores which operate simultaneously on instructions, at a lower frequency than the singlecore. At the same clock frequency, the multicore processor will process more data than the single-core processor.
  • In addition to this, multicore processors deliver high performance and handle complex tasks at lower power as compared with a single core.
