Objectives

The objective of this assignment is:

Giving the idea of the most commonly used RDBMS for designing physical database systems i.e. SQL SERVER. It is used to design systems physically either through Query Analyzer OR Enterprise Manager.

 

Important things to consider before doing this assignment: 

 

1. This Assignment is the continuation of Second Assignment. Taking in consideration the same case study of Security Information System, a conceptual database has been provided in the form of an ERD.
2. Now you have to complete your next phase of the Database Development Process which is physical database design. You will create it by utilizing the ERD provided in the next page.
3. Apply foreign key constraint at this stage.

 

Task Description:

 

In this assignment you will focus only on the tasks given below:

 

1. Open the Query Analyzer, and then create a new database by your id, like a sample screenshot provided on the last page of this file. Then create all the tables in this database by using it.
2. You are required to transform all entities into tables by CREARE TABLE.
3. You have to transform all entity attributes into columns.
4. Define appropriate data types of each attribute.
5. Apply entity integrity constraint by defining primary key, and foreign key of each entity.
6. Write an SQL query to insert one row to each of the table.
7. Take screenshots of your work, and paste them in your solution file (.DOC file).

 

 

Note: Use all concepts and techniques you have studied so far discussed particularly in lectures 24-33.

Junaid mera SQl install hogya hai lakin agey database create he nhi hota :( main new database create krti hun tou apna id deti hun tou wo kehte hain i can't make new database in master :( plz guide me through this

that's because you have no rights to create it

simply use sql server authentication 

or

in object explore

right click on top of tree view select server properties

in permission grant all permission on your login name

No its not working neither with SQL server authentication they are asking for login and pw and i don't know the login and pw :(

during the instillation process the instillation wizard asked about the authentication if you entered mix mode instillation then it will ask password for 'sa'

anyway try this

open sql server

expand security in tree view

expand logins

and check that your login name exist here if yes then click on it and check the rights

just right click on your name then properties

then in server roles

click on all checks

apply it and then try it will 100% work for you

and if you name login name is not there (windows login name) then

add it and assign server roles

also can do it by doing this

1. Start All Programs --> Microsoft SQL Server 2005 --> Configuration Tools --> SQL Server Surface Area Configuration

2. Add New Administrator

3. Select 'Member of SQL Server SysAdmin role on SQLEXPRESS' and add it to right box.

4. Click Ok.
