Kotlin is a statically typed language whose syntax is quite different from Java, but interestingly, it runs on Java Virtual Machine. It’s a recent invention in programming world and its credit goes to JetBrains Company. It tackles one of the most famous “drawbacks” of Java: Verbosity. (According to many language experts, one of the main flaws in Java is that it is quite verbose).
Google is gradually adding Kotlin support in its Android application development environment, Android Studio. As of 2017 release of Android Studio, Kotlin is fully supported by Google as an alternative language for Java. According to Android official page, you can write better and faster applications with Kotlin. It generates safer and interoperable code with increased expressivity.
In your opinion, is it possible that one day, Kotlin will completely replace Java? Why, in your opinion, Google accepted this language as an official Android application development language?
