Assignment

Consider a computer network of a social networking web site in which 7 routers are connected with each other using a dedicated wired point to point link. Each link is of 5 meters and cost of wire is 100 PKR per meter.

In view of the above scenario answer the following questions and provide yours to-the-point answers in respective tables.

1. What will be the total number of links before and after adding this new router?

1. What will be the total cost of wire before adding this new router and after adding this router?

Cost of one meter 100 pkr

Cost of 5 meter (one link) = 5 * 100 = 500

Cost of 21 links = 500 * 21 = 10500 pkr

After adding 1 new router How could it becomes 42 ?

7+1=8 for adding new router ? right

n(n-1)/2= 8(8-1)/2=8(7)/2=7(4)=28

Dear fellows, get the idea from below example and solve accordingly...

cost of wire before adding new router = 10*5*100 = 5000

cost of wire after adding new router = 15*5*100 = 7500

The formula to calculate No. of links = n(n-1) / 2

n = Number of routers = 7 before adding router

Just add one more router, mean put n = 8 to calculate No. of links after adding new router
