Assignment Questions

Question No.1 (5 Marks)

Calculate the bandwidth required of the given AM Station with proper unit.
Modulating signal with bandwidth of 7 KHz.
Calculate the bandwidth required of the given FM Station with proper unit.
Modulating signal with frequencies of 10000 to 19000 Hz.

Question No. 2 (5 Marks)

Suppose, if the bandwidth of the medium is 16,000Hz and the difference between the two carrier frequencies (fc1 and fc0) is 2000Hz, and the transmission is in full duplex mode. Find the maximum baud rate for FSK signal in each direction with all necessary calculation and proper unit.

 Question No.1                                                                                                                   (5 Marks)   a)      Calculate the bandwidth required of the given AM Station with proper unit. Modulating signal with bandwidth of 7 KHz.   Bandwidth of AM signal (modulated signal) = 2 * bandwidth of modulating signal 2 * 7 = 14 KHz   b)     Calculate the bandwidth required of the given FM Station with proper unit. Modulating signal with frequencies of 10000 to 19000 Hz.          Bandwidth of FM signal (modulated signal) = 10 * bandwidth of modulating signal                             BW = 10 * 9000 Hz = 90000 Hz       Question No. 2                                                                                                                       (5 Marks)   Suppose, if the bandwidth of the medium is 16,000Hz and the difference between the two carrier frequencies (fc1 and fc0) is 2000Hz, and the transmission is in full duplex mode. Find the maximum baud rate for FSK signal in each direction with all necessary calculation and proper unit.   BW required for FSK is equal to the Baud rate of the signal plus the frequency shift o Frequency Shift=Difference b/w two carrier frequencies o BW= (fc1 – fc0) +Nbaud   Solution: For FSK, if fc1 and fc2 are the carrier frequencies, then: BW=Baud Rate + (fc1 – fc0) Baud rate is the same as bit rate BW=16000 + (fc1 – fc0) = 16000 + 2000 = 18000 Hz       Question No. 3                                                                                                                                                     (5 Marks) a)      What is the functionality of  splitter in cable modem?   The splitter directs the TV bands to the TV set and the Internet access bands to the PC   b)      Calculate the Effect of noise on Parallel Flat Wire by using following diagram?
