Assignment # 3

CS601 – Data Communication

Question# 1:-

Suppose data is sent from user A to  B which has been passed through several intermediate nodes. Give your recommendation based on the cases mentioned below:

  1. If there are three nodes between A & B then which layer will be responsible for node to node delivery?
  2. Which layer will be responsible for Line coding?

Answer:-

  1. Layer 3
  2. Layer 1

Question# 2:-

Calculate the baud rate and corresponding bit rate for a telephone line having QAM-16

and bandwidth 2400HZ?

Answer:-

Baud Rate = 2400

For QAM 16 bit rate is 4N

Bit rate = 2400 * 4 = 9600b/s

Question# 3:-

Horizon Electronics Company has a small  network of 30 computers for communication with each other, which transmission medium among STP and UTP will be preferred and why? Justify your answer with solid reasons at least five points. www.vustudents.ning.com

Answer:-

STP stands for shielded twisted pair. When you look inside a networking cable there are six different wires are “paired” and these pairs are twisted. The purpose of this is to prevent something known as cross talk. Cross talk is where the signal along the wire experiences an electromagnetic interference induced by Eddie currents by twisting the tow wires this phenomena, is cancelled out and the data can then be transmitted without interference. www.vustudents.ning.com

In question no 3, read more about STP and justify your answer by yourself

isn't it utp cables as its cheap easy ti install etc.......... plz guide.....

rabia mujhay b UTP hi lag raha tha but main nay aik teacher say povha to unhon nay kaha STP hi ayay ga

sir sorry but  i think aap ka 1st quest ka ans thora galt hai

1.Data link layer

hai kiun k data link layer hi node to node delivery k liyay use hoti hai

so stp is final han....

yeah data link layer hi hoga!
