but in this scenario ,the company manufactures electronic goods
which means electromagnetic interference in the signals
so in my view,giving a reason of  electromagnetic interference is more "solid" than just saying that utp is common and cheap

For most common uses, it does not really matter whether you use STP or UTP as both would probably perform well. But here we have a reputed company which manufactures electronic equipment’s, so there are chance of more electronic noise, & external condition is not ideal.

Hence they should use STP, it has additional shielding material that is used to cancel any external interference that may be introduced at any point in the path of the cable. It will ensure that you get the maximum bandwidth from your cabling even if the external condition are not good enough.

But if cost is important then they can use UTP to reduce caballing cost.

Bandwidth = 6000 Hz

SNR = 2000

Formula:

C= B log2 (1 + SNR)

Solution:

C= B log2 (1 + SNR)

As log2 = log10 (x)/log(2)

Therefore

C= 6000 (log10 (1+2000)/log(2))

C= 6000 (0.301)

C= 65805.58 bps

Suppose a signal travels through a transmission medium with initial power 1000dB but due to some impairments it is received at the destination (about 100 Km away from the source) with power 10dB. You are required to calculate the total power loss, by following all steps in the formula with the correct unit.

Data:

P1=1000 dB

P2= 10 dB

Formula:

10log10(P2/P1)

Solution:

10 log10 (P2/P1) = 10 log10 (10/1000)

= 10 log10 (0.01)

= 10 (-2)

= -20 dB

Assume a well reputable company that manufactures the electronic equipments, wants to establish a small and reliable network of 40 computers for communication with each other. According to you, which transmission medium between STP and UTP will be preferred and why? Justify your answer with solid reason.

Ans: If a well reputable company wants to establish a small and reliable network of 40 computers for communication with each other. They need to choose STP. Because STP is more noise resistant, shielded and reliable transmission medium.

The major reason for choosing the STP is that the matal casing prevents the penetration of EM noise. Its also can eliminate a phenomenon called Crosstalk, which is undesired effect of one circuit on another circuit.

While UTP does not always eliminate the impact of noise but it does significantly reduce it.
