## Question No 2(Part 1)

Suppose in a shared network of five computers, a 15 MB file is transfer by a computer without breaking down into packets across the network with 56Kpbs capacity. You are required to calculate the time in minutes that it will take to transfer this file.

## Solution

File Size =15MB

15X1000000

=15000000 Byte

=15000000*8 bits

=120000000 bits

Network Speed = 56Kbps = 56*1000 => 56000 bps Time required = 1200000/56000 = 2142.86 second Now convert it minutes

= 2142.86/60

= 35.71 minutes

Question No 2(Part 2)

Now, if the same file is broken into 2000 bytes packets, then you are require to calculate the time in seconds that other computers must wait before beginning of data transfer.

## Solution

Packet Size = 2000 Bytes

= 2000*8 bits =16000 bits

Network speed = 56Kbps = 56*1000 => 56000bps

Time required = 16000/56000

= 0.286 second

Wait for 0.286 second before beginning to transmit.
