Performance Managemnet (HRM 613) Fall, 2015 Assignment no. 1 Due Date: Dec 09, 2015 Total Marks: 15 Topic: Performance Evaluation Approaches “hello” telecom is a middle sized cellular operator providing multiple telecommunication service nationwide. Due to an increasing trend in telecom sector, “hello” has rapidly expanded its business and therefore employed an adequate number of human resource. It becomes difficult for the company to centrally manage the performance of employees which was previously practiced. For enhanced efficiency it is decided to launch separate PMS (performance management system) for each region. In each region “hello” has single main office having its technical operation department, customer service department and administration department. Administration department is responsible for conducting PMS for respective region. Technical Operation Department is responsible for undisrupted signal transmission and to ensure continuous network coverage. This department is composed of telecom engineers, electrical engineers and supporting team of technical helpers. Customer service department includes a call center of 60 CSRs (customer service representatives), CSR team leads and front desk assistants. While administration department is dedicated to deal employee related matters including operating PMS which are decentralized to regional level. This department includes regional head, admin and personnel manager, human resource assistants and supporting admin staff. Considering the above situation of “hello”, list down the job descriptions for each department mentioned in above case and identify the evaluation approach (result or behavior based approach) most suitable for each department. Note: Linkage between the job descriptions and evaluation approach should be obvious in your solutions.
