Assignment:

Faith in Allah SWT.

While studying the Holy Quran, we come across with two concepts. First, we come to know that Allah is the Best of all those who provide. (وَإِنَّ اللَّـهَ لَهُوَ خَيْرُ الرَّازِقِينَ ﴿الحج:٥٨﴾) and second, it is from the best qualities of believers that they trust on Allah SWT. In Surah Aal e Imaran, verse 159, Quran says:

فَتَوَكَّلْ عَلَى اللَّـهِ ۚ إِنَّ اللَّـهَ يُحِبُّ الْمُتَوَكِّلِينَ

Place your trust in Allah; surely Allah loves those who put their trust (in Him).

Majority of common Muslims have made their perception that there is no such need to plan and work hard to attain earning and livelihood.  In result of this, they are facing miserable condition of poverty

Looking at above scenario, you have to explain:

  1. How shall we explain the real meaning of Verse واللہ خیر الرازقین
  2. What is actual concept of “Tawakkul”

Best of Luck!

Note:

Medium of instructions in VU is in English so handouts of Isl201 will not be provided in Urdu Language. Considering the difficulties of student in the subject of Islamic studies, students are allowed to have their write-ups in Roman Urdu. This relaxation is for the subject of Islamic studies (Isl201) only.

1) English

2) Urdu - by using inpage and

3) Roman urdu..

but time is over..

ok..

paper will be in English but can i attempt it in roman urdu too?

 Dear Student,

Assalamu Alaikum,

You are most welcome at e-mail forum.

As you know that medium of communication in VU is English so, ideally is that, you attempt your paper in English, to attempt the paper or assignment/GDB in Urdu or in Roman Urdu is only a relaxation for the students of Islamic studies and it should be treated as a relaxation only. However if you think that Urdu translation is helpful to make this subject more familiar, it could be considered in future.

·         You can attempt your paper in Roman Urdu or in simple Urdu language.

·         For Urdu language you should install “inpage”.

·         There will be no any effects on your marks in case of Urdu/ Roman Urdu.

·         The Question paper will be in English.

·         There is no need to inform before exam to attempt paper in Roman Urdu or in simple Urdu language.

If you need more information so, feel free to ask, all your queries will be highly welcomed.

I pray for your success.

Wish you all the best in future.

Allah Hafiz.

Faith in Allah SWT:

Majority of common Muslims have made their perception that there is no such need to plan and work hard to attain earning and livelihood. In result of this, they are facing miserable condition of poverty
Looking at above scenario, you have to explain:
1. How shall we explain the real meaning of Verse واللہ خیر الرازقین

Answer:
Firstly we have to know what is the meaning of Verse واللہ خیر الرازقین ?
ALLAH says in Qur’an:
"Verily my Lord enlarges and restricts the Sustenance to such of his servants as He pleases: and nothing do ye spend in the least (in His cause) but He replaces it: for He is the Best of those who grant Sustenance”
ALLAH's blessings upon us are various and uncountable. He provides basic necessities and favors for all mankind. Every living thing in this universe relies on ALLAH for its existence. ALLAH provides all the necessities to HIS creature, whether it is human being, animals or other living things. But ALLAH runs this universe according to some rules and regulations. Reliance on Allah does NOT mean not working and striving for sustenance in this life.
Allah’s Promises of Rizq:
First of all let’s agree on the meaning of Rizq by the help of what Shaykh Zulifiqar Ahmed mentioned in one of his lectures:
“All aspects of a person’s subsistence and livelihood fall under the definition of rizq, including but not restricted to wealth, status ,business and children.”
We see in this capitalistic society, everyone will do anything that is possible to gain rizq. People think they are expanding their rizq by doing haram , opening liquor shops, but they aren’t. Islam tells us the rizq is assigned at our birth and on top of that Allah (SWT) made five promises of rizq. These five are includes:
1. Taqwa :
“And whoever fears ALLAH,for him ALLAH brings forth a way out,and gives him provision(rizq) from where he does not even imagine..” (Surah At-Talaq:2/3)
Once Hazrat Umar (R.A) asked to Hazrat Ka’ab (R.A) :
“What is the reality of Taqwa?”
Hazrat Ka’ab (R.A) said: “Have you ever passed a thorny tree?”
Hazrat Umar(R.A) answer: “yes”
Hazrat Ka’ab (R.A) asked: “How dis you pass?”
Hazrat Umar (R.A) answer: “I passed with such care that I ensured that no thorn got caught into my hem”
Hazrat Ka’ab (R.A) then elaborated: “In the very same way,the reality of Taqwa is for one to save himself from the thorns of sins and negligence.”
So,this the first thing which Allah promised the righteous believers, that He will ease every difficulty of their and provide for them all their needs from resources they never expected about.
2. Daily Five Prayers:
Everyone who ever spend time in Jama’at should know that through the daily five prayers Allah makes the rizq easy.
A hadith states : “ Salaah is the cause of ALLAH’s pleasure : It is a beloved act of the Malaikah , a sunnah of Ambiyaa( A.S) , the nur of ma’rifah is achieved by it,du’aas are accepted, and barakh in rizq is attained.”
Once a Sahabi(R.A) said: When the household of Hazrat Muhammad (S.A.W) experienced difficulty in their expenses he commanded the performing of salaah, and recited this Verses:
“And enjoin upon thy people worship, and be constant there in.We ask not of thee a provision: We provide for thee. And the sequel is for righteousness” (Surah Ta Ha:132)
3. ISTIGHFAR:
Hazoor Paak (S.A.W) has said in another Hadith: “ The one who seeks forgiveness for Muslims males and females from Allah Ta’aala twenty five times a day,Allah will count that person among those whose Du’a is accepted, and through the Barakah of whom those gain Rizq (sustenance).”
4. TAWAKKUL ON ALLAH:
Tawakkul on ALLAH could be translated as sincere reliance on ALLAH. In our context right now it means to be 100% convinced that ALLAH will definitely give me rizq, that He has fixed for me. If all creations of ALLAH come together to change something about that, they simply can not.
Hazoor (S.A.W) has said: “If you have proper and sincere tawakkul on Allah. He will grant you rizq like the birds are given rizq, who come out of their nests in the morning with empty stomachs and return to their nests in the evening with a full stomach.
ALLAH Ta’aala says:
“And whoever places his trust in ALLAH, He is sufficient for him.” (Surah At-Talaq:3)”
5. INFAAQ FISABILLAH:
It’s no secret that when spending or giving charity in the right path of ALLAH, ALLAH according to His boundless mercy gives back much time more.
There are many Hadidith regarding this , but to spare you time I’ll just type the incident of Hazrat Ali (R.A) and a beggar.
Hadhrat Ubaydullah bin Muhammad bin Aisha narrates that when a beggar came to the Ameerul Mu’mineen Hazrat Ali (R.A), he said to (his son) Hazrat Hasan (R.A) or Hadhrat Husayn (R.A), “Go to your mother and tell her to give one of the six Dirhams that I had left with her.” His son went and later returned with the message that she said, “You had left the six Dirhams to purchase flour.” Hazrat Ali (R.A) said, “The Iman of a person cannot be true until he has more trust in that which is in Allah’s hands than that which is in his hands.” He then sent a message to her to send all six Dirhams. When she did so, he gave it all to the beggar.
Hazrat Ali (R.A) had not yet even changed his posture when a man arrived selling a camel. “How much for the camel ?” Hahdrat Ali (R.A) asked. “A hundred and forty Dirhams ,” the man replied. Hadhrat Ali (R.A) told the man to tie the camel by him with the understanding that he would pay for it after a while. The man tied the camel there and then left. Another man then passed by and asked who the camel belonged to. When Hazrat Ali (R.A) informed him that the camel was his, the man asked him whether he would sell it. “Certainly,” replied Hadhrat Ali (R.A). “How much?”, he asked. “For two hundred Dirhams,” was the reply. The man agreed to buy it, handed over the two hundred Dirhams and then took the camel.
Hazrat Ali (R.A) then paid a hundred and forty Dirhams to the man whom he had promised to pay and then returned with sixty Dirhams to (his wife) Hazrat Fatima (R.A). Seeing the money she asked, “What is this?” Hazrat Ali (R.A) replied, “This is what Allah promised us on the lips of His Nabi (S.A.W):
“Whoever brings (carries out) a good act will receive ten times as much.”
(Surrah An’aam:160)

2. What is the Actual concept of Tawakkul :

Answer:

The word tawakkul has been derived from (Advocacy), meaning 'taking for oneself a representative', and a good representative generally possesses the following four characteristics: Awareness, Trustworthiness, Strength and Sympathy.
It might not appear necessary to mention that one selects a barrister for a task when the individual lacks the strength to defend himself. He therefore seeks the strength of another person and uses his assistance to solve his personal problem.
Accordingly tawkkul means that man, in the face of the difficulties of life, enmity and troubles of opponents, the tangles of existence which hinder his journey towards his objectives, and in instances wherein he finds himself unable to untie the knots, takes Allah (SWT.) as his support but, at the same time, does not stop his own efforts and endeavors. Rather, in those instances too, wherein he possesses the strength to perform the work, he looks upon Allah (SWT) as the fundamental influencing force. This is because in the eyes of a (true) monotheist, He is the source of all strength and power.
Contrary to the attribute of 'relying on Allah (SWT) is relying on other than Him - meaning living dependently upon someone else and not possessing self independence.
Scholars of ethics state: Tawakkul is the direct outcome of 'Unity of Divine acts'; this is because, as we have mentioned previously, in the eyes of a monotheist every motion, endeavour, movement and occurrence that takes place in this world eventually finds a connection with the Primary Cause of this world i.e. Allah (SWT) consequently, a monotheist regards every strength and power to originate from Him.

The Philosophy of 'Tawakkul'

In the light of our previous statements, it can be inferred that:
Firstly: Relying on Allah (SWT) the interminable Source of power and strength - causes man to become more resilient in the face of the troubles and adversities of life. An example of this is when the Muslims suffered a severe blow in the battle of Uhud and the enemies, after having abandoned the battlefield, decided to return once again midway from their journey (back home) with the aim of inflicting a final blow upon the Muslims.
The Qur’an states that when the Muslims were informed of this, those who possessed firm faith were untouched by fright in this extremely dangerous moment when they had lost most of their active forces. On the contrary, placing their reliance on Allah (SWT) and seeking assistance from the power of faith, they increased themselves in firmness and resistance. As a result the victorious enemies, being informed of this, hastily retraced their advance.

Examples of such resistance, under the light of tawakkul, are observed in numerous verses, amongst them being verse 122 of Surrah Ale 'Imran, in which the Qur’an says that reliance on Allah (SWT) prevented the two groups of soldiers from being overcome with lassitude, in the battlefield.
In verse 12 of Surrah Ibrahim it has been mentioned that tawakkul should be accompanied by patience in the face of the attacks of the enemy.
In verse 159 of Surrah Ale 'Imran it has been ordered that when intending to perform an important task, initially consultation should take place; this should be followed up by a firm decision after which, one should place one's reliance on Allah SWT) (and proceed in accordance with the decision taken).
The Qur’an even says that only those, who possess faith and tawakkul, shall be able to exhibit resistance vis-à-vis satanic whisperings and not be influenced by them.

إِنَّهُ لَيْسَ لَهُ سُلْطَانٌ عَلـى الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَ عَلـى‏ رَبِّهِمْ يَتَوَكَّلُونَ‏
“Surely he has no authority over those who believe and rely on their Lord.”

Firstly we have to know what is the meaning of Verse واللہ خیر الرازقین ?
