The Farewell sermon of Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) is undoubtedly the first and ideal manifesto of human rights. According to the historical point of view, it has the credit of being first manifesto of human rights. This last sermon of the Holy Prophet (Peace be upon him) contains various points related to social values as well as human rights.

In this GDB, you have to describe Eight Points of last sermon of Holy Prophet (Peace be upon him), which are related to “Human Rights and Social Values”.

Solution :


  1. Rights of State : “Behold! Worship you lord; and obey your rulers, and you will be admitted to the paradise of your lord.”
  2. Right of law observance.
  3. Rights of justice: “Beware, no one committing a crime a responsible for it but him, neither the child is responsible for the crime of his father’s nor the father is responsible for the crime of his child.”
  4. Right of Awareness for future generations: “Let him that who is present, convey it unto him who is absent, for many people to whom the message is conveyed may be more mindful of it than the audience.” The Farewell address is equally notable for the universal message it has for mankind as a whole.


  1. Right of Social Identity: “He who attributes this ancestry to other than his father claims his client ship to other them his master, the curse of Allah is upon him.
  2. Rights to receive the debt: “All debts must be repaid, all borrowed property must be returned, gifts should be reciprocated and a surety must make good the loss to the assured.”
  3. Right of ownership: “He who (amongst you) has any trust with him, he must return it to the owner.”
  4. Constitutional Rights : “Verify I have left amongst you that which will never head you astray, the book of Allah and my example, the sunnah and if you follow these you will never go astray.”
  5. Women’s Right want of husbands and wives :

“O people, it is true that you have certain rights with regard to your women, but they also have rights over you, remember that you have taken them as your wives only under Allah’s trust and with his permission. If they abide by your rights then to them belongs the right to be fed and clothed in kindness. Do treat your women well and be kind to them for they are your partners and committed helpers. And it is your right that they do not allow anyone to enter your house whom you do not approve of as well as never to be unchaste.”







Uphold human dignity:

The month of Zulhijjah is one of the most sacred and significant months in the Islamic calendar. The month of Hajj (pilgrimage), where Muslims from all walks of life gather to seek Allah's pleasure and fulfil the 5' pillar of Islam. Indeed, this is a month of increased spirituality.


Honor and respect the rights of women:

Women are not the property of men and their rights are given by Allah s.w.t. which no men can take it from them. The Prophet s.a.w. emphasized the principles of mutual love, trust and respect.


Avoid economic inequality:

The Prophet Muhammad s.a.w. emphasized the importance of socio-economic justice.


Do not discriminate:

All humankind is from Adam a.s and Hawa a.s. An Arab has no superiority over a non-Arab, nor does a non-Arab have superiority over an Arab; also a white has no superiority over a black, nor a black has any superiority over a white — except by piety and good action."


Hold true to the teachings of Islam:

Throughout his last sermon, the Prophet (S. A. W) profoundly reminded us about the importance of rights between humankind.


To maintain equality through zakat:

Holy Prophet (S. A. W) said in his last sermon that the sophisticated people must give zakat to the poor for maintaining equality in society.


To abolish the interest system for maintaining equality in society:

In his last sermon Holy Prophet (S. A. W) narrated that we have to abolish the interest system from our society for maintaining equality and social values.

Protection of life, wealth, and respect:

In his last sermon Holy Prophet (S. A. W) said we can spend a respectful life if we follow the teachings of Islam.
