MCD401 Assignment 1 solution fall 2020
During times of disaster, heartache, and loss, it can become difficult to believe that life will ever return to any semblance of normalcy. The emotions we feel during such life-changing moments are important, as they represent signposts on our journey. Whether we’ve lost a home, a loved one, or a relationship, often the feelings of loss are the same. We may feel like we are alone or abandoned, like our world is crumbling around us, like we will never get through it, that nothing will ever be the same again or that the loss will be unrecoverable. These feelings are absolutely normal when navigating a traumatic event.
It is important to take time to feel these feelings, and fully experience the loss in order to heal and recover. The Bible tells us that there is “a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance” . So often in our fast-paced society, it’s more common to stuff our feelings down - denying them - especially when they’re inconvenient and painful. But there is wisdom in what the Bible says: to take time and really experience what you’re going through. There will be time again for laughter and joy, once you’ve felt the pain and grieved the loss. When we don’t deal with our pain, it will resurface again in our life at another equally inconvenient time.
You are more powerful than you could ever imagine. There’s not a single thing life throws at you that can defeat you. Even the worst circumstances can’t stop you. Even the worst situation can’t make you less than who you are: a victorious, chosen child of the Most-High God who is limitlessly loved and abundantly taken care of.
However, when you’re right in the middle of a difficult situation, it doesn’t feel like this. It feels more like the wind is being knocked out of your sails, and all you want to do is give up. There’s no situation that can defeat you, but there’s one thing that is able to stop you: hopelessness.
Hopelessness: The Greatest Attack
Hopelessness is the overwhelming sense that there’s no way out. It sees no possibility of the desired outcome becoming reality. Hopelessness stains your perspective to only see the gaping holes, impossibilities and not yets.
Because your brain is wired to see what it already believes to be true, hopelessness feeds itself. The less hopeful you feel, the more powerless you feel, the less you use your faith-filled authority to influence your situation. When problems grow because they’re no longer influenced by faith, it only seems to confirm your hopelessness. It’s a downward spiral.
This season, God is whispering much-needed perspective and understanding when we quiet ourselves before Him. He is rebuilding the impossible right now and redeeming your family line. He loves how He created you and wants to discover more of who you are with you! It’s time to celebrate, for it’s harvest time!
