Electronic media in Pakistani society is three dimensional: Informing the public, educating the knowledgeable and providing entertainment for the whole society. TV has gained very significant position in our society due to its content. It enlightens the political, social, economic and all other issues of the country through coverage, analysis and in various infotainment programs. The use of combination (verbal & nonverbal) communication transferred a written piece into a visual communication which leaves strong impact on the mind of audience. The style and the frame work within which TV programs are presented on screens good-looking and attractive popular celebrities tailoring programs to suitable lengths, images and build opinion regarding socio political issues. Tailored words give emphasis with the help of framed visuals of media products.

Task:   Watch the infotainment programs “Mazaq Raat” and “Hasb-e-Hall” which has been broadcasted on leading  news channel of “Dunyia News” and identify the following parameters;  1. Format of programs (Give reasons)

1. Celebrity gossip
2. Social
3. Political                                              (3)
4. Agenda of the programs (Nature of questions asked by the host) a) Informative
5. Sensationalism
6. Satire   (3)
7. Selection of Guests (Give brief Intro of Guest)
8. Political figure
9. Showbiz Celebrity
10. Sportsman/ social figure (3)
11. Parody style to discuss or highlight the socio political issues. (Briefly Discuss the Interesting aspects) a) Songs
12. Poetry
13. Discussion in taunting and humorous way (3)
14. Analyze the verbal and nonverbal communication skills of the host and guest and identify the most striking verbal and non-verbal skills (any two) of them.    (1.5+1.5= 3)
