Tasks: Electronic colonialism theory (Presented by Tom McPhail 1981), explains how mass media is creating a new concept of empire. The concept doesn’t support to acquire military power or to occupy any land forcefully but based on controlling the minds of people around the globe. It emphasizes to create a psychological or mental empire through mass media. It is aimed to convert the world into an “Empire of the Mind." Transnational media is collectively influencing and controlling the minds, attitudes, values, and languages of individuals all over the world. It is no doubt, a wonder of electronic mass media which is not only expanding the boundaries of the multi-national communication corporations but also going to capture those borders which were not even touched by once-great British Empire. Thus it is going to emerge an era of “Electronic Colonialism” where the states and nations are not invaded through weapons and military but through media. a) Analyze the effects of Electronic Colonization on Pakistani community and find out that which international powers are influencing our minds?
