Learning Objectives
 To develop a case-based solution after reading and analyzing the scenario
 To make students familiar with the consultation models discussed in OD
XYZ Company has maintained its position in the garment industry under fierce competition. But
the over-riding characteristic of this company had been the authoritarian style of ensuring that
change happens. To expand and offer something unique, the company has hired a new team of
designers. By the very nature of the work, new hiring is solutions-oriented and requires less
structured and more organic organization to work in “Creative Labs” which is missing here. A
culture of questioning management directives is particularly discouraged in the company. The
inevitable result is conflict; now the CEO wants to detect where the problem lies. Assume yourself
to be the consultant hired by the CEO of XYZ Company and give wise suggestions on the questions
listed in requirements.
Assignment Requirements:
1. Which consultation model, in your opinion, is appropriate to resolve the issue? Discuss in
detail the appropriateness of the model you select. (2+3 Marks)
2. Diagnose the problem hampering the smooth functioning of XYZ Company in light of the
selected model in requirement number 1. (5 Marks)
3. How is the nature of OD model (selected in requirement number 1) considered different
from other improvement strategies in terms of bringing desired outcomes? (5 Marks)
IMPORTANT:
24 hours extra / grace period after the due date is usually available to overcome uploading
difficulties. This extra time should only be used to meet the emergencies and above mentioned due
