Objective of the activity
The aim of this activity is to generate a discussion on the unproductive practices within organizations that impede the process of ‘learning’.
After attempting this activity, students will be able to:
Top management at Innovative Cars Co., a manufacturer of automobiles, is demanding its think tank group to devise a proposal for novel features in its manufactured automobiles. The entire process of idea generation up to execution is being carried out under immense pressure. There is no budget or time allocated for “experimentation” of the new features to test for its acceptance and the management wants a fool-proof plan from its team. This team comprises of only engineers who are experts on technical grounds and no members from fields such as marketing have been added to this group. Top management is adamant that the engineers are sufficient enough to suggest how they can attract customers by offering them advanced features in the cars.
Point of Discussion
In the hyper-competitive world of today, organizations are now aiming to become learning organizations. Learning organizations build up as an outcome of the demands faced and facilitates them to stay competitive in the business environment. How do you think the practices at Innovative Cars Co., will affect its’ endeavor of becoming a learning organization?
For acquiring the relevant knowledge, do not rely only on handouts but watch the course video lectures and read additional material available online or in any other mode.
I think to create novelty is a good endeavor to become a learning organization but I think the method is not right because it is not possible for a firm to become a learning organization with limited budget or time, experience and keep the team under pressure, so for becoming a proper learning organization top management should change the strategy.

According to this scenario management will be fail to achieve the result because they have very short time to accomplish it but It also can do but here main reason of failure is that they are not giving value to their other team members they are ignoring their contribution.
In competing organizations team members think together to achieve common goals. They build on shared vision, adding the element of collaboration.
