  • Al-Badee Intl decided to start a new distribution set up in Southern Punjab. The company intends to introduce a new brand of flour and has signed formal agreements with different flour mills in that area. There is a very intense competition in this sector as there are so many companies working in this area and consumers are well aware of the quality and the price of the product. Marketing Manager, Mr. Hussnain, the owner of Al-Badee, is worried about initiation of business operations due to high competition resulting in low profit margins.  He consulted an experienced distributor and visited the market for data collection and gets to know consumer preferences to start this project. After this information seeking phase, Mr. Hussnain realizes that along with the distribution process, the promotion is also significantly effective in the consumer purchase decisions.  
    for the above given situation both  promotional strategies ( push and pull) must be applied by the owner of Al-Badee.
    The push promotional strategy is used to create market demand by offering incentives to the sales force, retailers, wholesalers and distributors. Push strategy includes selling merchandise directly to the customers via company showrooms and negotiating with retailers to sell their products for them, or set up point-of-sale displays.( this strategy will help the owner to offer selling merchandise)
     the pull promotional strategy is one that requires high spending on advertising and consumer promotion to build up consumer demand for a product. The ultimate goal of pull marketing is to get the customers to come to you( advertising will help the customers become familiar with the new product)

Mr. Hussain use push promotional strategy works to create customer demand for flour through promotion: for example, through discounts to retailers and trade promotions. Appealing package design and maintaining a reputation for reliability, value or style are also used in push strategies.

 

And Mr. Hussain also use Comparative Advertising to increase retail margins for the retailers or initiate an advertising campaign for this new brand.
