Learning objective:

The core objective of this activity is to make the students familiar with the types of managers and the role performed by them in operating the organization.

 

Learning outcome:

Student should be able to apply the management concepts and will not only be able to identify the types of managers but will also be able to differentiate between the roles and duties performed at each managerial level within organization.

 

Background

Management is of great importance in taking decisions along with day to day activities. Mr. Umar is a manager in the organization and supervises the activities of his subordinates. He takes order and then transforms them into actual work activities with the help of employees input. He holds four years of bachelor’s degree with two years practical experience. He earns sixty thousand rupees per month along with other benefits such as health care and travelling allowance. Mr. Wahid is also a manager and he manages the entire organization with decisions that have long term effect. His decisions affect the whole organization and have an experience of 25 years along with high decision making skills and earn two lakh fifty thousand rupees per month along with free air miles, car, medical allowance and travelling allowance. Mr. Bashir who is also a manager but assists other managers in achieving the goals set for the organization. He is supervising the employees in Islamabad to manage the organizational activities. His

decisions only affect the employees allocated to him. He earns one lakh fifty thousand rupees per month along with travelling and health allowance.

 

Requirement

Identify each managerial level of the managers discussed above and give reason for selecting each particular level.

 

 

Important:

Mr  Wajid is TOP LEVEL manager some time we will say them executives who are in procedures for setting the goals and targets of an organizations  means their functions are to controlling and overseeing the entire organization.

Mr Bashir is middle level manager who is responsible for manages and allocate the employees on exact location means in department or division and helps his subordinates how to achieve goals and targets set by the top management.

Mr umar is low level manager some time we call them supervisors his main function to make sure that order which was pass on to him are accurately carried out.

In second part of question .Its has been asked reasons for selection of each particular level. There is a lot of reason on which basis sectional was done

Reasons on the basis of functions for selections of Top Level Managers

  • Mr wajid is belong to top level managers whose lays down the objectives and broad polices of the organization.
  • He issues necessary instructions’ for preparation of department budgets, procedures schedules etc.
  • He prepares strategic plans& polices for the organization which haves been long impact on financials.
  • He is also responsible for the allocation of organizations resources.
  • He control and coordinates activities of all the departments.
  • He is also responsible for the maintaining a contact with outside world.
  • He provides guidance and directions.
  • The top management is also responsible toward the shareholders for the performance of the organization.

 

Reasons on the basis of functions for selections of Medal Level Managers

  • He (Mr Bashir) executive the plans of the organization in accordance with the policies and directives of the top managements
  • He makes the plans for the sub-units of the organization
  • He participates in employment and training of lower level management.
  • He interprets and explains policies and procedures from top level to low level managements.
  • He is responsible for coordinating the activities within the division or department.
  • He is also sent all important reports and other inputs from low level to top level management.
  • He is also responsible for evaluation the performances of junior managers.
  • He is also responsible for inspiration lower level managers toward better performance.

 

Reasons on the basis of functions for selections of Lower Level Managers

  • He (Mr umar) Assigns Jobs and tasks to various workers
  • He guide and instruct workers for day to day activities
  • He is responsible for the quality of work but also quality of production
  • He is also entrusted with the responsibilities of maintaining good relation in the workers
  • He helps to solve the grievances of the workers
  • He is responsible to provides all necessary material, tools, machines etc  for getting the things right
  • He prepare periodical reports about the performance of the workers
  • He motivate his workers
  • He ensure the discipline in his units or departments
  • Basically all those type of managers are very important for the image building of the company because they are directly dealing with the workers.
  • Lower level managements are communicate workers problems suggestion, and recommendation appeals etc to the higher level and details of goals and target from level to workers.

All on the above basis we can differentiates the level of managements on their particulars which they are assigned for smooth functioning of organization.
