Topic to be tested:
Contemporary Motivational Theories
Learning objectives:
· To see the theories from the implementation perspective
· To see what factors motivate workers (as per their job title)
Learning outcomes:
After attempting the assignment, the students will be able to:
· Know that which model is in practice at the organization.
· Analyze which incentives can be offered to get high productivity from employees.
The case
Company ‘R’ and Company ‘S’ are being managed differently. The managerial practices
followed in each company are given below:
Company ‘R’:
Each office has at least one supervisor to check the staff working.
Work target for each employee is set on daily basis.
Record of completed work is also kept daily.
Each process is broken down into different tasks and then these tasks are assigned to
individual employees to complete.
Company ‘S’:
There are few group supervisors whose job is to help the other staff in case the work
builds up.
The employees are encouraged to complete what they can.
If a task needs more time than anticipated, the employee is encouraged to take the time
required to do a good job.
Employees are given a whole task to complete and they can choose how it is completed.
