This is to inform that Graded Discussion Board (GDB) No. 02 will be opened on January 24, 2014 for discussion and last date for posting your discussion will be January 28, 2014.

This Graded Discussion Board will cover lesson 28 to lesson 31.

 

Note:

For acquiring the relevant knowledge, do not rely only on handouts but also watch the course video lectures and read additional material available online or in any other mode.

  • Your discussion must be based on logical facts.
  • The GDB will open and close on above specified date and time. Please note that no grace day or extra time will be given for posting comments on GDB.
  • Use the font style “Times New Roman” and font size “12”.
  • Your answer should be relevant to the topic i.e. clear and concise.
  • Do not copy or exchange your answer with other students. Two identical / copied comments will be marked Zero (0) and may damage your grade in the course.
  • Books, websites and other reading material may be consulted before posting your comments; but copying or reproducing the text from books, websites and other reading materials is strictly prohibited. Such comments will be marked as Zero (0) even if you provide references.
  • You should post your answer on the Graded Discussion Board (GDB), not on the Moderated Discussion Board (MDB). Both will run parallel to each other during the time specified above. Therefore, due care will be needed.

  • You cannot participate in the discussion after the due date via email.

                      Competitive advantage gives a company an edge over its rivals/competitors. This increases ability of the company to generate greater value for the firm and also increases revenues.

Competitive edge of Dell over its competitors in terms of cost and sales:-

  • Dell offers a wide range of computer products to its customers including computers, data storage devices, printers, cameras, MP3 players and many more. The wide range expands the market and attracts different customers.
    •  Since Dell has low cost and high revenues, they use part of revenue to invest on technology to continuously improve their products quality and price.
    • Double edge selling strategy. Dell uses both indirect and direct selling channels.

    Part-II:-

    When the competitors follow online marketing strategies, Dell Corporation can improve their efficiencies more effectively by improving marketing mix strategies like:

    1-      First of all Dell should perform a competitor analysis and then assess competitors strengths, objectives and weakness.

    2-      Expansion of Indirect Sales Channels. Expanding indirect sales channel offers a great potential for revenue growth.

    3-      Increase selling of products through direct sales channels.

    4-      More promotion efforts must be made on internet to attract new customers which are a cost effective way.

  • 1-      Creating and maintaining hard-to-duplicate product/ service

    2-      Physical appearance can be shaped with mettle material to make it more charming and attractive.

    3-      Heir the salesmen who deals with the customers more effectively by telling them the qualities of selling product.

    4-      For sale promotion offer some additional mini items with product for the limited period of time.

    5-      Can be more efficient in Public Relationship. Heir some clever persons who goes to the market directly interact with the customers and take their feedback.

    6-      People who are working in the Dell Corporation can play a model role to attract the customers as compare to their competitors. If the employees use the same product they are working for it ll leave a positive impact on the others. For this purpose the company should give packages for their employee so that they can afford easily.
