Every year, thousands of students enter the job market with degrees in hand to compete for the government jobs for being secure and comparatively easier. But such opportunities are getting rare and tougher due to the large number of applicants and growing rate of unemployment. Due to this factor, the applicants are left with the only option to look around for a private sector jobs which are less secure and more demanding.

In such an economy, Mr. Hammad is enrolled in the course of Money and banking for his MBA degree as it helps students to learn the concepts of Financial Instruments and Financial Markets. He wants to be a broker at a stock exchange so that he may live a life of luxuries. The probability of getting such a job is 60 percent with a starting income of Rs. 20,833 monthly. If he fails, he will ultimately have to work for some bank with a starting income of Rs.16,667 monthly. Since it is difficult these days to live a standard life with  source of income, he intends to save some of his earnings for investment in bonds with a maturity of five years. If he gets his desired job and accumulates funds worth Rs. 5,00,000 then he makes an investment that promises to pay 0.4 times of the investment every year till maturity.

a) What will be Mr. Hammad’s expected starting salary as well as the standard deviation of
