MGT501 GDB

Scenario

ABC insurance company compensates its employees in work teams of 10 members each. It is observed that in one of its teams, four members are coming up with good sales and satisfy quality goals. In this situation, is a bonus for the entire ten-member team justified? How can ABC insurance company make sure that the free riders don’t benefit from the productivity of others? (5 Marks)

ABC insurance company should not give bonus to its all employees. It is observed that pay for performance is a healthy factor in progress of employees. If four members are coming up with good sales then company should pay bonus only to those four employees. In this situation, they will be encouraged and perform their duty more efficiently in the future too. Bonus for the entire ten-member team will discourage struggling employees and free riders will never work hard to facilitate the organization.

By the sales achievements of 04 employees to benefit all others is not Justifiable. ABC insurance company should set employee equity programs within teams to keep motivated the employees who are achieving their targets. And this equity program will help other who are not able to achieve sales target to work hard and efficiently to get their bonuses.

With the help of implementing individual based plan of incentives free riders will never get the benefit of the other employees’ productivity. Which will ultimately push the free-riders to work competently to the bonuses. In this plan every employee measured and compensated individually based on their contribution to the task within the team. individual based plan will create a competitive environment within the team to perform as high to get higher benefits. It will keep motivated the top employees and motivate the other free-riders. Cautious monitoring and translucent reportage can neglect possible undesirable rivalry and fraudulence in order to achieve goals.
