The purpose of this activity is to familiarize the students with different Motivational Theories and how managers/organizations use them at workplaces to motivate their employees towards achieving organizational goals. 


Genesis Applications is a multinational software company. This company provides Internet-related products and services, including software, internet search, advertising technologies, and cloud computing. Mr. Hassan is an IT professional and has recently joined Genesis Applications.  His supervisor, Mr. Hamdani is known for his human relations approach towards his staff. He believes that, given the right conditions, most people are ambitious, self-motivated, anxious to accept greater responsibility, and deliver their best at work.

He has explained the job to Mr. Hassan and has indicated that he will have a great deal of control over his job once he develops his skills. Mr. Hassan proves himself a strong and committed employee by fulfilling his responsibilities to achieve the objectives of his department and the goals of his company within a few months.

 His supervisor is satisfied with his learning and performance. He compliments Hassan on his attitude towards job responsibility and suggests that he is free to offer constructive criticism about the way his job is structured. 

Point of Discussion:

Keeping “Motivational Theories” in mind, Identify which “Motivational theory” is being practiced by Mr. Hamdani while interacting and directing his staff? Justify your choice with at least one solid point.
