Graded Discussion Board No. 01

Total Quality Management (MGT510)

Due date: January 23, 2017 Marks: 5

Topic: Quality Management System
The Scenario

The Government has established Pakistan Standards & Quality Control Authority (PSQCA) for quality assurance and control. PSQCA is a member of International Organization for Standardization (ISO). One of the objectives of PSQCA is testing and assessment of raw material and finished products to establish quality, grade and composition conforming to national & international standards. The recent issue of sale of adulterated milk and dairy products has put the authorities and general public at shock. Similarly, there can be many other substandard products being sold in the market. This is very serious and alarming concern, that unhealthy, unhygienic and poisonous food items are being supplied to common man. It could be one of the reasons that Pakistan’s economy is suffering from last few years due to low quality products and inadequate parameters adopted for quality standards.

Point of Discussion (POD)

Discuss what steps should be taken to set up uniform parameters by Pakistan Standards & Quality Control Authority (PSQCA), as companies can develop and implement quality management system properly and effectively for standeredized products.
