Textile industry is considered as the backbone of Pakistan industry, and it is

like the shining star of Pakistani industry in terms of eminence, value and

profitability. Moreover major portion of Pakistani exports are from the textile

related products. But in recent year’s investors and stakeholders are very much

concerned on the declining profitability of textile industry due to numerous

problems of our country like increased cost of raw materials used and drastic

power crisis. Despite of all these severe challenges rigorous competition is still

prevailing among the major textile manufacturers of Pakistan.

Safa Textiles Limited (STL) Karachi is a well-known name in the textile

industry of the Pakistan. They have well-equipped stitching and home textile

division, where a vast range of home textile products are manufactured and

exported. STL has recently received a massive order of home textile fabrics

from Russia. Head of Operational Planning & Control department of the

company probed the management that the power shortages in the industrial

sector are hampering their manufacturing. So it was decided that in order to

complete the order within specified time working hours would be increased.

Management accepts his proposal and decides to go for long working hours to

complete order well before deadline. But employees were not cooperating

because they were having some reservations about this decision of top

management, and the result was in delay more problems for the management.

Keeping the above mentioned scenario in mind, you are required to answer

1. Identify the type of the perceptual bias that exists in this given situation

along with its main reasons? (Mark 5)

2. In your opinion, how management of Safa Textiles Limited (STL) can

tackle this situation? Mention at least two strategies. (Mark 5)

24 hours extra / grace period after the due date are usually available to

overcome uploading difficulties. This extra time should only be used to meet

the emergencies and above mentioned due dates should always be treated as

final to avoid any inconvenience.

Identify the type of the perceptual bias that exists in this given situation along with its main reasons? (5)


A perception bias is a psychological tendency to lose objectivity in perception of people and situations. People may believe they are able to evaluate an event fairly and accurately, including making judgments about situations

Psychologists have identified a large number of cognitive biases and situations where they can become active. One very common perception bias is the fundamental attribution error, where people tend to blame circumstances for their own failings, while blaming the failure of others on their personalities.

So in this scenario, company wants to increase working hour and in this way the selected

Target will complete hurry and on the time, but the workers don’t want to work over time

This is fundamental perceptual bias that exist in company and their workers, it will reduce the income and also gives the, lose to company and also workers. This is worse thing for both.

In your opinion, how management of Safa textiles limited (STL) can tackle the situation?

I think if company leaders apply this strategies this will going to help them in get their

If company gives bonus to workers on over time, workers feel easy to work and think that

Extra money will give them pleasure and basic needs, so I think bonus is the well known strategy which mostly people use when they want their wanted task and work from others

Or workers, for example if teacher want his student gain high marks in exam than teacher must give him extra time and attention and this will help student to get good grades in exam same as if workers gain more attention proper care and also extra money this will help them in their life and also helps the company leaders to reaches the goal.


Talk and communication:

Talk and communication is also the best way, because if workers have issues with any strategies through talk and communication resolve, and the one in which they both

Agree established and it will help both to carry them, give the rise of company and working task.
