PRODUCTION/OPERATIONS MANAGEMENT (MGT613)
MARKS 5
MS Foods is working in the fast food industry for the last ten years. They have opened up franchises in all the major cities of Pakistan. Having strong competition in the fast food industry, MS Foods profits are shrinking. They have decided to diversify their business and decided to invest in the production sector. They have set up MS Textile Mills for which they have purchased a piece of land and construction has begun. Because of already existing financial constraints they can’t hire new Production/Operation Manager at high package. Mr. Kashif who is already working as Production/Operation Manager with MS Group has proven his competence in the fast food is assigned the responsibility of Production/Operation Manager at MS Textile Mills. Working at MS Mills what challenges Mr. Kashif will face as he has been shifted from service industry to the production industry.
Is there any difference of job responsibility of Production/Operation Manager between service and production industry?
What challenges Mr. Kashif can face while taking the charge at MS Textile Mills?

today is the last date of GDB so share your ideas
yes is difference of job responsibility of production and operation and management production and industry
The key difference between service firms and manufacturers is the tangibility of their output. The output of a service firm, such as consultancy, training or maintenance, for example, is intangible. Manufacturers produce physical goods that customers can see and touch.
Service firms do not produce a service unless a customer requires it, although they design and develop the scope and content of services in advance of any orders. Service firms generally produce a service tailored to customers' needs, such as 12 hours of consultancy, plus 14 hours of design and 10 hours of installation. Manufacturers can produce goods without a customer order or forecast of customer demand. However, producing goods that do not meet market needs is a poor strategy.
According to my point of view Mr. Kashif will have to face these types of challenges while taking the charge of Production sector
strategical difference
technological change
competition among other organization
management style
and new staff
