A student exerts a horizontal force of 15 N to push a 10.0Kg liquid box across the floor for a total displacement of 6.0 m as shown in the fig. When he pushes some liquid is dropped and the final mass of the remaining liquid box is 8.0Kg. Calculate the work done on the liquid box by the student. Marks = 8

Question # 2

In the vicinity of the Earth, objects experience a force of gravitational attraction towards the centre of the Earth. Which of the following statement/statements is/are true? Marks 3+4 = 7
a) The force of the gravity is proportional to the square of the distance between the object and the Earth s centre.
b) The force of the gravity acting on the object does not depend on the Earth object‘s mass.
c) If there is no object to experience a force of gravity, then the Earth has no gravity field.
d) The Earth and the object both create their own gravity fields.
e) The Earth‘s force of gravity on the object is greater than the object‘s force of gravity on the Earth.

Assignament solution of physics 101

Question # 1

A student exerts a horizontal force of 15 N to push a 10.0Kg liquid box across the floor for a total displacement of 6.0 m as shown in the fig. When he pushes some liquid is dropped and the final mass of the remaining liquid box is 8.0Kg. Calculate the work done on the liquid box by the student.

F =  150N

D = 6 m

W = F.D

W =  (150) (6)

W =  900 J

So the work done is 900 J.

In the vicinity of the Earth, objects experience a force of gravitational attraction towards the center of the Earth. Which of the following statement/statements is/are true?

a)      The force of the gravity is proportional to the square of the distance between the object and the Earth s center.

d)      The Earth and the object both create their own gravity fields.

The statement (a) and (b) are true .  reasons are below

A :-

Force of gravity is inversly proportional to the square of distance between object and the earth center .  if the object is near the center of earth it feels greater the force of gravity and if object is relatively away from the center of earth than it feels the less force of gravity.

B :-

Force of gravity is independent of mass of object .  if we neglect the air`s resistant and other forces and drop the two different masses from a certain hight then we observe that both reach on earth at the same time so gravity dose not depend on mass of object.

Question # 3

Calculate the magnitude of the angular momentum of a bowling ball spinning at the rate of 12 rev/s as shown figure below.

Mass of bowling ball =  5 kg

Radius of bowling ball =  0.1085 m

Magnitude of angular momentum :

L = mvr

L =  (5) (12) (0.1085)

L =     6.51

What if the ball were thrown downward from its highest position with a speed vi? What would its speed be at height y?

If we drop the ball from a certain hight its initial speed must b 0. So its speed at highest point is 0 (zero).
