Punishment: An unpleasant or painful stimulus whose introduction following a certain behavior
decreases likelihood that the behavior will occur again.
An aversive stimulus that decreases the p of the behavior that precedes it
Government needs to develop and implement prevention programs aggressively, taking care to learn from experience. Research and evaluation must be important elements in all prevention efforts.
A cost-effective approach to crime requires more than punishment. A country cannot jail away its crime problem by warehousing criminals, young or old. It cannot solve crime solely through deterrence, or by "shocking" trouble-prone youth or "scaring them straight." Rather, to help children and youth grow into productive, constructive adults, they must be supervised, supported, educated, encouraged, cared for and given opportunities to contribute. And they must have positive opportunities for recreation, exploration, and personal growth.

punishment is the thing which is important as well  as dangerous untill a quantity...if we take an example of a small child if he is awarded by a simple punishment for his mistake then it may b possible that he would not do that mistake again...bt if a small child is awarded by a swear punishment on a small mistake then it would make a child sad and unhappy and it may enforce that child to do that mistake again and again....similarly...if we take our own example..we feel embarace on taking punishment..bt if a punishment is in a good way then it is not bad to punish some one..in short i feel that punishment should be given to a person in a particular quantity...and in a positive way ...there fore, that person takes it in a positive way too..because if the punishment in given in a positive way to any one...we can say it that this is good for this act in order to remove bad habbits and make them good person

Innocent doll gud answer... but v hav to focus on faulty n criminality behaviour...
