You are supposed to read the given situation or research conditions carefully and identify the type of experimental research design (ABAB, ABA, between research designs and within research design, discussed in lecture 10) which has been employed in each scenario. After identification, also justify your selection giving at least four points.

A researcher took a sample of 100 people with severe agoraphobia (fear of open spaces). Half of them were assigned in a group where cognitive behavior therapy was administered and remaining half in a group were given behavioral therapy for treatment. |

It was seen that positive reinforces were more effective in dealing with anger issues as compared to visual prompts. |

Ali, a 7 years old child had 5- year history of seizures and diagnosis of autism and brain damage. He experiences 5 seizures per day despite taking medications. In order to reduce the number of seizures, an interruption process was introduced in which child was asked ‘NO’ in case of hands shaking and trembling. Moreover, child’s shoulder was also hold. After this, interruption process was suspended for some time. When child did not receive any treatment then again seizures appear. Again, interruption process was re- introduced for a period of 6 months. A dramatic change was observed in reduction of child’s seizures due to introduction of treatment. |
