Case 1Dr. Rameen, (a psychologist) advertised a special “assessment package” and low-cost, “shorttermtreatment option” for children with behavior problems at a relatively low price. One clientcomplained that when she took her child for the appointment she was encouraged to purchase“the complete battery” rather than the package advertised. The more elaborate proceduresuggested was also considerably more expensive and lengthy.
Case 2Ali is working in a community and is giving therapy to an anxious military officer. During thecourse of therapy, he prescribed medicines to his client in order to alleviate anxiety symptoms.
Case 3Rabia, a young recent law school graduate, had been hired by a prestigious law firm. She soondeveloped anxiety attacks and insomnia in the highly competitive office. She feared that herwork was being scrutinized far more critically than that of recently hired male lawyers. Shesought consultation with Dr. Bilal (a psychologist) soon concluded that Ms. Rabia sufferedfrom “penis envy” and was afraid of heterosexual intimacy. He advised her that it was criticalfor her to address these matters in therapy, if she never hoped to be able to married and bear achild, thus fulfilling herself as a woman.
Case 4Dr. Maria is a Catholic psychologist who holds deep traditional values. She works in thecounseling service of a state university. Daniel comes in for an initial appointment and wants todiscuss the anxiety he is experiencing over several homosexual contacts he has had during theprior six moths. Dr. Maria engaged him in therapeutic dialogue in opposition to homosexuality.
After analyzing the above mentioned cases, answer the following questions:
