Dear Students,

The assignment is based on the “Factors that influence the persuasiveness of a message and source factors”.

Question 1:

You are required to read the given hypothetical message carefully. After reading the message, identify the type of factors used in the message for the persuasion of the message.

 

Message

In light of the current situation of pandemic “COVID-19” the Government of Pakistan Health Advisory has issued a public service message to stop and curtail the spread of Corona Virus. Government has issued the following advisory:

Facemasks are mandatory to be worn by everyone whenever leaving their homes at all

times including crowded public places, mosques, bazaars, shopping malls, public transport i.e. roads, rails and flights.

 

You are supposed to use the following tabular format:

1.	Consensus	We must act now Severe acute respiratory syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) has infected more than 35 million people worldwide, with more than a million deaths registered by the WHO. We need clear communication on the consensus raised by COVID-19. Lockdown policies are believed to reflect scientific consensus.
2.	Reciprocity	Physicians should ensure that COVID-19 patients in their care are enrolled in the study only if the study has been approved by the relevant Ethics Review Committees and, if necessary, the Pakistan National Bioethics Committee. Survey participants should be given priority in terms of access to scarce resources. They should be given privileged access to the research product in which they are to participate. Take the national blocking policy as an example. One way or another, they have been adopted by many countries around the world, offering a strong consensus on their needs.
3.	Authorities	Although there is no widespread lockdown in Pakistan, the federal government has announced the step by step reopening of educational institutions at various levels from late January to early February 2021. Large indoor gatherings are still limited! Following the resurgence of the epidemic in the UK, the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) imposed category restrictions on flights from the UK to Pakistan
