The culture of poverty is a concept in social theory that asserts that the values of people experiencing poverty play a significant role in perpetuating their impoverished condition, sustaining a cycle of poverty across generations. It attracted academic and policy attention in the 1970s, received academic criticism (Goode & Eames 1996; Bourgois 2001; Small, Harding & Lamont 2010), and made a comeback at the beginning of the 21st century. It offers one way to explain why poverty exists despite anti-poverty programs. Critics of the early culture of poverty arguments insist that explanations of poverty must analyze how structural factors interact with and condition individual characteristics (Goode & Eames 1996; Bourgois 2001; Small, Harding & Lamont 2010). As put by Small, Harding & Lamont (2010), "since human action is both constrained and enabled by the meaning people give to their actions, these dynamics should become central to our understanding of the production and reproduction of poverty and social inequality."

The increased use of digital media is changing people’s everyday lives and the way they connect and collaborate in the broader societal context, at work and in civil society. Much of the impact of this heightened use is beneficial to both individuals and society. It is enabling unprecedented levels of communication, social interaction and community building across boundaries of time, place and social context. It is enabling individuals and speeding up the democratization of knowledge.
Social media’s effect on our ability to interact and communicate is visible throughout all areas of society According to Paul Booth, PhD, an assistant professor of media and cinema studies in the College of Communication at DePaul University in Chicago, social media certainly affects how we engage with one another across all venues and ages. “There has been a shift in the way we communicate; rather than face-to-face interaction, we’re tending to prefer mediated communication,” he says. “We’d rather e-mail than meet; we’d rather text than talk on the phone.
GDB IDEA SOL 2019
Yes I do believe that culture of poverty is the reason of vulnerable economic situation in our country because poverty is the root cause of every problem. Poverty stops the progress of country and makes it the home of corruption, bribery, terrorism and so many other things. A poor man can do anything for a piece of bread as the Mark Twin said "feed the nation and strengthen your country"
Because, if the poverty ratio of country is more than 50 percent how can it progressed in economic field and even not any social program designed by international agencies for economic assistance can help that country, as poverty is the first evil to be dealt with.
Ans:Poverty is a multifaceted concept, which may include social, economic, and political elements. Some basic casuses are :1 : difference in values and behavior of rich ,poor and middle class, 2 : unreal economic assistance , 3 :class difference ,4 : corruption , 5 :un equal access to educational and dvelopmental opportunities, 6: unequla distribution of wealth , 7 : lack of planning , 8 : unemployment , 9 :improper investment , 10 : High expenditures of Govt officers and properties , 11 : lack of artistic skills ,12 : extreme population , 13 : improper facilities.
Do you think that “culture of poverty” is the reason of vulnerable economic situation despite of the fact that various social programs are designed by international agencies for economic assistance? Explain with logical arguments
