SOC101 GSB Fall 2020 Solution idea:

Patriarchy is seen as a set of social relations that allows men to dominate women. In Pakistan patriarchy has been the pattern of authority that is deeply rooted in our society. What do you think could be done to deal with this discriminatory domination of men over women? Provide any five solutions.

I think these steps should be taken to eliminate the discriminatory domination of men over women and creating a balance between both genders.

1- Paying equal wages: In Pakistan, it has been observed that women are not equally paid for the same work as men. Therefore, companies must change this attitude and start treating both sexes equally. The move will empower women in society and end patriarchal rule.

2- Raising awareness of gender equality: The majority of Pakistanis do not even know the importance of gender equality in society but they accept patriotism, women do not talk about rights because they have accepted a male-dominated society and people have established the principle that women Men have guardians and they can't improve themselves. Economically, in order to change such a mindset, gender equality should be taught in the curriculum of educational institutions and through other means including electronic media and social media. We cannot expect change without training people. Therefore, the most basic step is to eradicate the etiquette from the society of Pakistan to provide awareness to the people about gender equality.

3- Eliminate Violence against Women: The government should take serious action on violent cases. As the daily times reported in 2019, Pakistan is the sixth most dangerous country for women. Strict laws must be enacted against criminals. At home, women are beaten by their husbands, people abuse women on the streets and at work, harassment in educational institutions, and sexual violence are important issues that need to be addressed that violate women's rights. This can be done by making strict laws against the people.

4- Educating Women: In 2017, Women literacy rate was just 47%. It was because of the mindset that women work at home so education is not necessary for them. Literacy among women make them silence against violence whereas Literacy make them stronger in society hence and end of male domnant society.

5- Increase women's representation in Politics and services: Women should be given more opportunities to get involved in politics and services so that they can help many women find their rights and influence the family economy.
