Objective of the activity:
The objective of this activity is to make the students able to comprehend the significance of probability and non-probability sampling techniques.
Learning Outcomes:
After attempting this activity students should be able to:
· Identify the key differences between probability and non-probability sampling.
· Understand the significance of probability and non-probability sampling.
Case
Despite of the fact that probability sampling has been very popular since early 1930s due to its generalizability and accuracy, but non-probability sampling has remained in vogue among commercial and polling agents nonetheless they also experienced embarrassment owing to wrong predictions in American presidential elections. For that, few think that non-probability is an inferior choice when it comes to sample selection due to its low accuracy, quality and generalizability. On the other hand increased cost and decline in response rate for administering probability sampling have directed few researchers to go for non-probability techniques as a substitute to probability sampling.
In the end, the dilemma boils down to the following question: either you would select non-probability sampling technique and sacrifice accuracy and quality OR go for probability sampling while accepting low speed and high cost associated with it? Write down 5 most relevant points to justify your stance.
Haven't started working on it yet. Will start tomorrow. Is there a specific format in which to post comments? Also, will our comments be visible to everyone, like in MDB?

Probability Sampling
1. It is more reliable.
2. Cost has less value over accurate results.
3. There is no single prediction for whole project.
4. Out of the box results may give large change.
5. Initial results will be acceptable for further research.

Graded Discussion Board:-
In this informative discussion we must to need understand American presidential election setup then we is able to make probability sampling in the right way. In the America the president is elected by the institution called the Electoral College. The Constitution only states that the candidate who receives a majority of votes in the Electoral College becomes president. There are a total of 538 electoral votes. The candidate that gets more than half 270 wins the election. In 1930s some of the experienced analysis owing the wrong predictions in the American elections. Because they have low rate of accuracy, quality and generalization after is thing cost was increased and decline process of response rate is increase. Non-probability sampling is a sampling technique in which the researcher selects samples based on the subjective judgment of the researcher rather than random selection.
In non-probability sampling, not all members of the population have a chance of participating in the study unlike probability sampling, where each member of the population has a known chance of being selected. Non-probability sampling is most useful for exploratory studies like pilot survey. Non-probability sampling is used in studies where it is not possible to draw random probability sampling due to time or cost considerations. Non-probability sampling is a less stringent method, this sampling method depends heavily on the expertise of the researchers. Non-probability sampling is carried out by methods of observation and is widely used in qualitative research.
In the my point of view probability must to have the physical data collections and then further make a good probability about any things, like elections, companies analysis or other things regarding need probability. We are must to focus on the physical data collection way. Then we are able to make correct probability sampling.
