10 Beautiful Small Towns in US

1. Cayucos, California

Cayucos is located on colorful Estero Bay in central California, on the halfway between Los Angeles and San Francisco. Despite its great wines on the east and beautiful sandy beaches on the west, the town remained immune on developmental trends. The town’s population is only 3100 citizens. Because of the mild seasons, cool but sunny summers, and sunny, mild winters, Cayucos is an ideal place to live, and also a great vacation resort. A lot of activities are available: fishing, diving, surfing, kayaking and swimming.

2. Kittery, Maine

About 9500 people who live in this place declare that they live in the “Gateway of Maine” or in “the oldest incorporated town in Maine.” Kittery is nice, quiet, small fishery town on the east coast of United States. It’s visited by tourists often because of the shopping outlets.

3. Milford, Pennsylvania

Only 71 miles far from New York, this small town in recent years has attracted newcomers because of its Victorian architecture. The peaceful and quite town is located near the 70,000-acre Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area, which enables a lot of recreation activities. Also, the Black Bear Festival of independent film takes place in October every year, while in June Milford Music Festival is organized.

4. Paia, Hawaii

It’s beautiful but not just because it’s in Hawaii. The home of 2500 citizens has maintained its mellow vibe and many of its plantation-style wooden buildings. Paia abounds with restaurants, art galleries, surf shops and other tourist-oriented businesses. It’s located close to many internationally known windsurfing spots. Therefore it is sometimes called ‘The World Capital of Windsurfing’.

5. Mystic, Connecticut

Mystic is beautiful small town, with 4000 citizens, located on the coast of Connecticut. It is historic locality and major New England tourist destination. Mystic is proud of the world’s largest maritime museum, which has preserved a number of sailing ships and seaport buildings. The town is well known since 1988, when the name of the restaurant “Mystic Pizza” was inspiration for a Hollywood movie.

6. Silver City, New Mexico

Silver City is a mining town in southwest corner of New Mexico, populated with over 10 000 people. The closeness to Gila Cliff Dwellings National Monument and, its Old-West charm and high-desert location attract a lot of tourists who look for adventure. The Nature Conservancy runs Bear Mountain Lodge, a hacienda adjacent to birding, biking, and hiking opportunities in the forest.

7. Beaufort, South Carolina

Beaufort is located on Port Royal Island, in the heart of the Sea Islands and Lowcountry. It is home of 13000 habitants. The city is famous for its scenic location and for maintaining a historic character through its magnificent antebellum architecture. The city is also known for its military establishments, being located in close proximity to Parris Island and a U.S. Naval Hospital, in addition to being home of the Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort.

8. Bisbee, Arizona

The former mining town today is beautiful artists’ enclave, with Victorian-style homes; various museums and the Queen Mine Tour down into an inactive copper mine. It is 90 miles south of Tucson, populated with over 6000 inhabitants. The place is always sunny, it’s got great stories to tell, and it’s definitely worth visiting.

9. Alpine, Texas

Located in Brewster County, Texas, this town’s population (6500 people) keeps growing as it was found as one of the best small towns to live. Although it keeps the western look, it avoids the smoldering heat of the West Texas lowlands and, partly thanks to the presence of Sul Ross State University, is home to a vibrant, thriving main street. A lot of recreation activities are available, as hiking, cycling, mount biking, camping, thanks to the closeness of national parks around.

10. Ashland, Oregon

Unlike the previous mostly sunny towns, Ashland is a rainy place. Over 23000 citizens of this town can enjoy the Northwest’s first-rate recreation while watching its Napa-style vineyards. It has rich culture life. Here’s located the only crime lab dedicated to wildlife. Ashland is well-known for its annual Oregon Shakespeare Festival, which brings thousands of visitors to the city every year. There are Shakespeare and non-Shakespearean plays in repertory at three theaters. More interesting, OSF sells more tickets to more performances of more plays than any other theater in the country.
