3D printing is all the rage these days and, as it continues to improve, more and more amazing products are emerging from the innovative process. For the last 18 months, artist and inventor Joshua Harker has been working on a new 3D printing technology that pushes the limits of the quality, capability, cost, access, & ease of use.
Harker has put his own funding into his development of the next generation of 3D printing, but has recently launched a to help him complete his research. In exchange for financial support, the artist is offering this stunning series of 3D printed filigree flowers, entitled Mazzo di Fiori.
The small bouquet includes 12 10-inch tall flowers, a lotus lily pad, and a ripple vase, all of which have been printed in SLS polyamide (essentially a nylon powder fused together with a laser). Since the artist is asking for help, he figured what better way to say thank you than with a bouquet of flowers. He says, "The composition celebrates the harmony & beauty of opposite & opposing forces. The water surface depicts the plane of separation between liquid & gas with the reaching flower transcending & binding both worlds… an environmental yin yang."
