New York-based photographer Franck Bohbot has a knack for into a quiet and contemplative scene. In all of his work, he eliminates people from his compositions and concentrates on the structures and architecture throughout a place. This approach results in captivating photographs that invite viewers to explore the uninterrupted locations as calm moments void of chaos.
Chinatown is a work in progress that features none other than New York City's Chinatown. Along the dark urban streets, Bohbot documents locked up storefronts, empty roads, and deserted sidewalks throughout a section of Manhattan. Muted colors range from oranges and browns of glowing street lights to a soft blue of the moonlight casting light across the sky. His bio explains, "The long exposures and natural light enable him to capture the essence and the breath of these deserted spaces carrying the ghostly traces of abandoned social landmarks."
