The Narigua House, located in the residential community of El Jonuco in Mexico, is very aware of the existing landscape. In fact, its entire design is structured around the mountain-enclosed neighborhood. P+0 Architecture designed the home so that its inhabitants can still enjoy stunning 360-degree views yet respect the forest of cedar trees that surround it. Their solution was to lift the building above the greenery and divide the floorplan into three separate “zones.”
The first zone accommodates the garage and storage spaces. A second area contains the entrance hall, master bedroom, and a staircase to a lower level that serves as a platform for the ground floor and its guest bedrooms. An additional zone features a modern kitchen and decorated leisure space. Antiques are mixed with contemporary furniture and art in an interior that’s built using timber beams and thick walls traditionally found in Mexican architecture. Its overall rustic palette makes for a timeless appearance.
Narigua House is meant to blend in with the undisturbed landscape. Its massive windows and natural-colored exterior reflect the surrounding vegetation. Instead of standing out, it almost seems to disappear.
