10 – Alton Towers

Staffordshire boasts of a theme park that enjoys immense popularity in Britain. It is two hours from London and offers a most varied range of rides. From recent additions like the much-popular Saw-ride to Nexus and Vertigo, this is a warm and friendly environment to enjoy some world-class entertainment in.

9 – Universal Port Aventura

Universal’s theme park is one of the largest theme resorts in Europe(country: Spain) with a future plan that will make it the largest tourist attraction in Europe. With interesting sections called the Mediterranean, Far West, Mexico and China, it has rides to match any ones interest. And, to make it more accessible, it has a train station that caters directly for visitors to the park.

8 – Busch Gardens Williamsburg

This Virginia-based park, located in James City County, has been one of the best themes parkssince its opening in 1975 and has received a variety of awards for its management and operations teams foresight. Styled on the European themes with in-built tracks that lead from one ‘country’ to the other, it offers an experience a little different and more informative than your regular amusement park.

7 – Knoebels Amusement Park

Another American theme park situated in Pennsylvania that is one of its kinds. From family rides like Merry Mixer to thrill rides that are of the latest variety and satisfyingly exhilarating, Knoebels Amusement Park is one of the best theme parks in the world. In addition to the usual attractions like Phoenix roller coaster and other rides, visitors have access to museums and natural habitats as well.

6 – Six Flags Magic Mountain

Located in Valencia (California), Six Flags is a 260-acre (yes, it is!) park with world-class roller coasters and over 100 rides. Back in the 1970′s, it became the first park with a 360-degree steel looping coaster and was recently named the fourth best amusement park in 2007. The name is intended to reflect the six flags (Mexican, Spanish, French among others) that have reigned over the state of Texas.

5 – Blackpool Pleasure Beach

Situated in Lancashire, this is the most visited amusement park in England. The park is home to around 125 rides and attraction including the famous Pepsi Big Mac which was the fastest and the steepest roller-coaster in the world at the time it opened in 1994. In the Amusement Today’s Golden Ticket Awards ( the Oscars of the amusement industry!) it was judged to be the fifth best amusement park in the world. The unique advantage of having a beach and a beach casino right outside makes it a more fun experience than many can offer.

4 – Holiday world

Indiana in United States of America is host to this grand theme park that includes Wildbeest which is the world’s longest roller coaster, camping facilities, resorts, and a very large numberof water rides that are a favourite in this region.

3 – Europa Park

This is Germany’s largest theme park. Located near Freiburg, its main attractions include a ‘united continent’ where you can discover a range of European cultures, playgrounds, cruises and fairy tale towers. This is a complete dream park that is both educational and spell-binding in its scope.

2 – Islands of Adventure

This theme park is one of Florida’s main attractions. The first theme park built for the 21st century, it has some pretty amazing rides to offer along with interactive family attractions. The latest addition called The Wizarding World of Harry Potter is the first of its kind and has added immense popularity to the status of Islands of Adventure.

1 – Cedar Point

Situated in Ohio (Sandusky) in United States of America, this huge park is a combination of amusement park and a water park called Soak city. It boasts of having the largest collection of coasters and other spinning rides on the planet and has been rated the top amusement park in the world repeatedly by many tourist surveys.
